PLDT Enterprise, the B2B arm of the country’s leading ICT and digital services provider—through its small and medium business group, PLDT SME Nation—recently extended its provision of high-grade connectivity solutions to The Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT U), powering the school with a fiber optic backbone to improve their connection and communication facilities.

Given ISAT U’s vision of becoming the leading science and technology university in Asia by 2030, it recognized the need to expedite its digital transformation to better accommodate the needs of an increasingly evolving and technologically empowered industry.

The partnership proves to be favorable for the university, which has focused efforts on research and development programs that fortify the local science and technology landscape.

“We’ve really looked forward to this partnership because of our desire to put the university up to par with internationally-recognized institutions. As we start to embrace a digitally-powered environment, this major upgrade with PLDT equates with our plans to accommodate the expansion of our campus,” said ISAT U President Dr. Raul F. Muyong.

PLDT SME Nation, which shares in the vision of enabling universities through technology, took on the partnership given its agenda for nation-building and holistic digital transformation.

“I really have to commend Dr. Raul F. Muyong and the entire faculty of the university for taking a big leap towards digitalization to elevate the quality of the education they provide and furthering the advancement of the academic sector. We are very honored to be a part of creating a great difference in the Philippine academe industry,” says FVP & Head of PLDT SME Nation Mitch Locsin

“As we strengthen the connectivity in ISAT U’s facility, we don’t just hasten transactions and provide dynamic communication among offices, but we also help the productivity of its students. This is what makes this project so fulfilling—more than enabling an institution, we also paint a vibrant future for the next generation,” added AVP & Head of Corporate Relationship Management for PLDT SME Nation Jimmy Chua.

The collaboration aims to strengthen the campus’ facilities through the installation of an Internet Protocol-Private Branch Exchange (IP-IBX), opening possibilities for the development of extensions, trunk lines, and other complex functions such as ring groups and digital receptionists. Also included in the contract is the campus’ subscription to an Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN), which organizes communication lines within the offices in the campus—all working to better support the school’s different initiatives.
