Two Saturdays ago, actor Derek Ramsay shared his secret on staying in shape during the third “Test of Will Urban Fitness Challenge” at the SM Megamall Fashion Hall.
On staying disciplined, Ramsay said that the easiest thing to do is to find something that you actually enjoy.
“It is all about will power, you have to get over that laziness, being lethargic, you have to get out of bed, you download all these fitness videos but you never use them, these are all walls. Once you get over that wall, it becomes a routine and it becomes a part of your life,” he shared with MS Entertainment during the Under Armour event.
The actor turned fitness enthusiast continued to express his thrilling journey of developing a fitness discipline that he said started when he was only 3 years old. He elaborated that patience is the key when one seeks to attain fitness goals.
“We really need to find time. Before you go to work, before you eat breakfast, that’s a great start and you’ll see results. In a week, if you do it properly it may not be physically, but you will feel better. It’s a slow process, but you have to trust the process and get there. Set goals that are realistic and then go for it,” he shared.
He shared his daily workout routine by performing a circuit of judo push-ups, squats, and ab workouts for at least 10 to15 minutes per day according to one’s phasing.
Moreover, he claimed that the best workout is merely proper posture.
“If you sit down properly you’re engaging your abs, your core is the most important series of muscles in the body. And if you sit up properly, keeping your body maintained, that means muscles are firing which means your burning calories. So even doing nothing just sitting properly, you’re burning calories,” he said.
The “Test of Will” is an annual Southeast Asia-wide fitness challenge in celebration of human performance functional fitness and the training lifestyle.
The two-day event, joined by over 300 athletes and fitness enthusiasts, competed in an intense four-minute circuit challenge that consists of dead ball squats, bear crawls, kettle farmer walks, and over and under (hurdles).
Joining Ramsay in gracing the lifestyle and fitness event were Under Armour celebrity brand ambassadors JC de Vera, Robi Domingo and Kylie Versoza.
The brand’s competition tested the challengers’ endurance, stability, strength, flexibility and motion according to Marketing Director of Under Armour Sports in Southeast Asia, Yvonne Tey.
