Five local designers team up for a pop-up exhibit

Showcasing the talent and brilliance of top Filipino designers, Rustan’s launches the first edition of Rustan’s Circle—a pop-up exhibit featuring fashion creations exclusively designed for Rustan’s Makati.

The first edition of Rustan’s Circle features (from left) Mich Araullo, Happy Andrada, Mark Bumgarner, Patty Ang, and Rossana Ocampo.

The Rustan’s Circle aims to provide shoppers an avenue to discover new and fresh offerings from local designers, as well as give these designers an avenue to showcase their pieces in a retail outlet alongside top luxury brands from around the globe.

Mark Bumgarner, Rosanna Ocampo, Patty Ang, Happy Andrada, and Mich Araullo come together for the first edition of the Rustan’s Circle pop-up exhibit. Each of them has put together a new collection of stylish pieces that marry their signature styles and silhouettes with the brand’s classy and elegant flair.

Mark Bumgarner

This formula-car-racer-turned-fashion-designer took inspiration from the 1960s New York for this special collaboration. “I have recently discovered the TV series Mad Men, and I loved how the women from that era were dressed up in simple yet elegant silhouettes, with dramatic patterns or prints making the pieces stand out,” says Bumgarner.

Minimum fuss, maximum impact, chic, and easy—these are the key characteristics of Araullo’s designs. Staying true to her pretty but functional philosophy, she created a collection that’s fun and relaxed yet channels the timeless old world sensibility. Ladies would enjoy the pieces from her range, which are all inspired by long, balmy summers in the Italian Riviera. “Think tie-print sundresses, crisp linen button-downs, ‘50s-style cinched-waist styles, and woven fabrics with bow details.”

Rosanna Ocampo

Keeping in line with her signature contemporary and feminine aesthetic, Ocampo created a botanical-inspired collection for Rustan’s Circle. “You can count on florals and foliage to be a perennial focal point in our pieces, as is the wildlife that surrounds it,” she says. “Colors, contrast prints, layers of texture, and embroidery are also all present.”

Happy Andrada

The pieces that Andrada is contributing to the exhibit feature a balanced mix of edge and elegance. As with all of her creations, her ready-to-wear designs for this collaboration features intricate detailed creations, elaborate detailing, intriguing mix of materials, and her genius sense for texture and cut. But what makes this collection unique are the intricate cut works inspired by a kaleidoscope, and the materials that used digitally printed aerial view of Metro Manila.

Patty Ang

“For this, I just let my creativity and spontaneity flow while I observe the various places that I went to, and combine them with the trends, culture, and lifestyle that I see from the people that I encounter during my recent travels.” Her pieces for this collaboration sure are as interesting and diverse as her adventures.

The Rustan’s Circle collections are exclusively available at the Ladies’ floor in Rustans Makati, from now until Sept. 30.
