A legislator on Friday told the Philippine Statistics Authority to start preparing for the issuance of the national identification cards.
Davao City Rep. Karlo Nograles, chairman of the House of Representatives’ committee on appropriations, said the President is expected to sign the law shortly and it behooves the PSA to be ready for that eventuality.
“By this time the final design of the ID should have been completed and the PSA should already have all the necessary facilities to go full blast in producing these IDs,” Nograles said.
Last month, Congress ratified the bicameral conference committee report of the proposed law mandating the issuance of a national identification card to make transactions with the government easier.
