Perlas cagebelles absorb 2nd loss

The Perlas Pilipinas national women's team absorbs its second straight loss, this time taking a heartbreaking 10-12 defeat at the hands of 11th seed Germany in the women's division yesterday at the start of the 2018 FIBA 3×3 World Cup at the Philippine Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan.

Their latest loss came after starting strong in a later afternoon game before the Perlas squad bowed to fourth seed the Netherlands, 21-11.

Germany, which bounced back from its 12-18 trouncing from 12th seed Spain, picked up its first triumph in two outings in Pool D.

Laura Zdravevska showed the way for the Germans with 4 points, and so did Wiebke Bruns in their game with the Filipinas.

On the other hand, Spain moved two wins away from sweeping its pool after pulling off a 19-14 victory over Hungary.

Earlier in the afternoon, the Dutch cagebelles, led by Karin Kujit, trailed the Filipinas by 2-3  to post their first win in Pool D.

Kujit went on to finish with eight points, with Jacobine Klerx backing her up with six.
