Manila Water, unit awarded 3rd Bulacan water project

Manila Water Co. Inc bagged another water project in Bulacan that could potentially serve the water requirements of the airport project being proposed by San Miguel Corp. in the province.

Manila Water said in a disclosure to the stock exchange it and unit Manila Water Philippine Ventures Inc. received a notice of award from Bulacan Water District to develop a P400-million joint venture project.

Manila Water MWPV and BWD will form a consortium that will implement the project, which involves the design, construction, rehabilitation, maintenance, operation, financing, expansion and management of the water supply system and sanitation facilities in the municipality of Bulakan for 25 years.

The project is estimated to deliver a billed volume of 16 million daily by the end of the concession period. This will be the third water project of Manila Water in the province of Bulacan.

Manila Water and MWPV last week received a contract to develop a P400-million water project in Balagtas, Bulacan.

MWPC in 2017 received a notice of award from the Obando Water District to rehabilitate, operate and provide water and sanitation services to the municipality of Obando.

Manila Water started to provide the water supply needs of subdivisions developed by Asian Land Strategies Corp., Solar Resources Inc. and Borland Development Corp. in Bulacan through operating unit Bulacan Water.

Manila Water holds the exclusive right to provide water and used water services to over six million customers in the east xone of Metro Manila and Rizal province, encompassing 23 cities and municipalities.

MWPV, meanwhile, was designated as the vehicle for expansion within the Philippines with focus on geographic expansion, new acquisitions and partnerships.

Currently under MWPV are LagunaAAA Water Corp., Boracay Island Water Co., Clark Water Corp., Manila Water Consortium Inc and Estate Water.

Manila Water, meanwhile, has investments in Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam. The utility earmarked P8 billion in capital expenditures for water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
