The cities of Manila and Pasay just threw the biggest street party ever as the Aliwan Fiesta unfolded over the weekend under the auspices of Manila Broadcasting Company, Star City, and the Cultural Center of the Philippines.
Kicking off the festivities along Sotto Street in front of the Aliw Theatre was the Pasakalye 2018, with energized performances by X-Battalion, Shanti Dope, Darren Espanto, Mocha Babes, and the Go Girls.
Lovely young ladies from various regions of the country vied for the title of Festival Queen and a cash prize of P100,000 as the Reyna ng Aliwan pageant took the stage on April 27 at 7:00 p.m..
Hosted by inimitable deejays Raqi Tera of 101.1 Yes The Best and Nick of 96.3 Easy Rock, the show will also feature musical numbers by Marc Carpio and TJ Monterde.
The Grand Parade showcasing different festivals from north to south of the archipelago took place on Saturday, kicking off at the Quirino Grandstand, and winding up in front of the Aliw Theater at the CCP Complex, where the awarding ceremonies took place.
A cool one million pesos went to the winner of the Streetdance Competition, while the champion in the Float Design category took home P 500,000.
