Quest Hotel, Clark and Mimosa Golf mark Earth Day

CLARK FREEPORT ZONE—Celebrated every April 22 since its commencement in 1970, Earth Day was launched to mark a global commitment in building a safe and sustainable planet.

In line with this global environmental event, Patrick Beck, Quest Hotel Conference Center and Clark and Mimosa Golf Course general manager, spearheaded a tree planting and solid waste segregation activity held at the golf course and hotel, respectively.

“We are happy Quest Hotel is doing this, that we are taking the initiative to celebrate and do something for the planet,” said Beck.

With the help of some earth-advocate employees, the group was able to plant 10 trees around the scenic Mimosa Golf Course and segregated solid waste into paper, plastic, metal and glass at the hotel sports grounds, a practice Beck wants the employees to develop in their everyday lives

“Taking care of the Earth is a responsibility and we have to remember that every single day. It starts with us, and the little things, teaching our children to dispose their garbage properly can make a big impact,” he added.

QHCP and Mimosa Golf Course employees commit to helping preserve the environment by also doing earth friendly projects, such as cleaning blitzes and donation of used oil and battery to ABS-CBN Foundation, which are done outside the Earth Day celebration.

In 2008, Presidential Proclamation 1481 was signed by then-President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo declaring April 22 of every year as “Philippines’ Earth Day” to raise awareness on the environmental challenges facing the country and its citizens.
