THE Coalition for Justice held a prayer walk Saturday in front of the alleged mansion of Associate Justice Teresita Leonard-de Castro in Paranaque.
Led by the publicly described running priest Fr. Robert Reyes, the members of CFJ from different groups supporting Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno held more than a 30-minute prayer in front of the house of De Castro in Merville, Parañaque City.
“Don’t let the devil use you. Get the person out of Satan,” prayed Reyes in Tagalog.
The Prayer Walk, according to Reyes in a statement, is for De Castro to be enlightened on the quo warranto case against Sereno.
There was no immediately available comment from De Castro.
The alleged three-story house of De Castro was believed to be more than 1,000 square meters in lot area, which according to some neighbors, was pegged at P18 million up to P30 million.
The resort opposite the house was also said to be owned by De Castro.
One of the protesters, Nona Andaya-Castillo of UP Samasa Alumni Association, said she voluntarily joined the Prayer Walk to denounce De Castro and four other justices for their refusal to inhibit despite “obvious bias and prejudice” against the Chief Justice.
“We saw De Castro’s house on about 1,000 square meters and the resort fronting it is allegedly also owned by her. The house is three stories, she is the one who should submit her Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth,” said Castillo, whose husband she said was a political prisoner.
“Our prayer is for De Castro to be sober in thought and heart and listen to the call of the public for her to inhibit or to resign in the Sereno case before the Supreme Court,” she said in Tagalog.
Castillo even expressed fear that dictatorship will reign once Sereno is ousted from Supreme Court.
After the prayer, the group chanted “De Castro, Inhibit or Resign” and “Quo Warranto, Ibasura” as they lighted candles in front of De Castro’s house.
