Twenty years since her passing, the late Diana, Princess of Wales remains an icon looked up to by today’s stylish lot.
As one of the first devotees of Jimmy Choo, the “People’s Princess” serves as the muse of the shoe collection born out of the collaboration of the luxury accessories label and ready-to-wear brand Off-White.
Under the creative direction of Sandra Choi, the elegance of Jimmy Choo takes a leftfield swerve and unites with Virgil Abloh’s cult fashion label Off-White, bringing together a fresh aesthetic to luxury footwear.
“To collaborate with a brand like Off-White allows Jimmy Choo to explore a new avenue and take part in a different conversation,” says Choi. “I love to mix it up by getting together with a different creative mind identifying our synergies and combining our DNA to create a beautiful and surprising collection with unexpected links to the roots of our brand.”
This marks the first time that Jimmy Choo has collaborated on a commercial shoe collection with a ready-to-wear designer.
The nine shoe silhouettes complement the ready-to wear looks that celebrate Princess Diana’s style, imbued
with Abloh’s aesthetic.
Her signature 90s looks are reconfigured for today’s princesses, to make for fantastical runway propositions that comprise conceptual plastics, tulles, and explosive hothouse florals whilst all cleverly grounded in reality. Exclusive packaging ensures these new footwear designs are as collectible as they are wearable.
The young exuberance of Off-White and the storied elegance of Jimmy Choo have brought to life Claire & Frances, Jimmy Choo’s classic styles reconceptualized with twisted practicality and steely femininity. The Lance shoe was reworked into a new style, wrapped in unexpectedly softly ruched PVC to create the modern princess’ “glass slippers”; leg-lengthening structured knee-boots encased in PVC or a tornado of tulle; and chisel-toe satin pumps enrobed in plastic and presented with a high heel and directional square toe.
Also part of the collection are Mary, ultra-refined stiletto heels with large au courant bow that captures the non-precious, devil-may-care attitude of the new luxury; Victoria, satin pointy-toe shoes with a cascade of tear-drop crystals that will shine at any party; and Jane, high heel and flat square-toe sandals that are perfect for a summer getaway in the south of France.
In the Philippines, Jimmy Choo is located at Shangri-La Plaza East Wing and Rustan’s Makati.
