PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte on Monday welcomed a Saudi Arabian prince who is visiting here and his offer to help the Philippines fight terrorism and violent extremism, an official said.
Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque said Duterte welcomed Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif, who is also Saudi Arabia’s minister of the Interior, in Malacañang.
“The Prince conveyed the personal and warm wishes of His Majesty and the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman to the President,” Roque said.
He said Abdulaziz conveyed Saudi Arabia’s readiness to combat violent extremism and terrorism in the Philippines.
In turn, Duterte thanked Abdulaziz and reaffirmed the Philippines’ commitment to fight terrorism and violent extremism.
He said there was a need to expand cooperation across many fields”•especially in security, trade and investment and in promoting the rights, safety and well-being of Filipinos.
Abdulaziz reaffirmed the importance of the Philippines to Saudi Arabia, which is host to more than 1.5-million Filipino workers.
