With the globalization of the food trade, the challenge of keeping up with the changes in consumption and demand due to economic growth rises equally.
The 14th Philippine Food Expo, dubbed as the country’s “Only All-Filipino Food Show” happening on April 20 to 22 at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City, aims to offer valuable information concerning the food industry as well as present food products.
With the theme “Emerging Trends in Food Trade,” the three-day event expo organized by the Philippine Food Processors and Exporters Organization Inc. will gather some 300 leading firms involved in food manufacture, growing, export, equipment, packaging, ingredients, and additives.
According to Philfoodex president Roberto Amores, the rise in spending power in countries in the Asean region results in greater demand for a variety of new diets which are nutritious and affordable.
He added that the Philippine Food Expo will help its members become more competitive in facing the challenges that the Asean Economic Community might present.
Just like in previous editions, the event will be an excellent venue for business matching between and among suppliers and food processors across the country.
Seminars include ASPIRE for Agripreneurs: agribusiness support for investments promotion in regional expositions, franchising opportunities, application of the TRAIN Law to the food industry, impact of DOST Set Up Programs to SME adaptors
Other topics include trends and business opportunities in the Asean food and beverage industry, threats to food business, financial assistance for SMEs, productivity and innovation, adapting GS1 barcodes, renewable energy, and packaging and logistics services.
Co-organized by the Philippine Exporters Federation, the Department of Agriculture, the Department of Trade and Industry and the Export Marketing Bureau, the expo will also include the Choco, Coffee and Tea Festival.
Spicing up the side event is a display of concoctions of a variety of brews and blends, a culinary showdown for college students and faculty, and a barista challenge.
