TANDUAY-Batangas City extended its winning streak to six games by downing Muntinlupa-Angelis Resort, 82-77, in the MPBL-Anta Rajah Cup held Tuesday at the Navotas Sports Complex
The Athletics banked on another steady game from Teytey Teodoro to remain undefeated, while snapping Muntinlupa’s own winning run to four games in the event organized by Sen. Manny Pacquiao with former PBA MVP Kenneth Duremdes as commissioner.
The burly guard out of Jose Rizal University sizzled with 24 points, including clutch baskets that repelled Muntinlupa’s determined comeback.
Teodoro’s solid all-around performance was a fitting sequel to his heroics the last time that saw the Athletics pull off a hard-fought overtime win over the Paranaque Patriots-Gamboa Coffee in Batangas City a few days back.
Muntinlupa slipped to 4-2.
Meantime, former PBA hotshot Gary David came up with another explosive performance and the Bataan Defenders-Bai Shipping picked up their second straight victory with an inspiring 96-88 victory over home team Navotas Clutch-Big J Sports.
A multiple scoring champion in the PBA, David preserved one of his best games ever, scoring 25 points on a steady 8-of-9 shooting from the foul line.
David and the rest of the Defenders’ rise nearly overshadowed Batangas City’s dominance.
For the Clutch, it was their second home game loss as they slipped to 3-3 into a tie for fifth to sixth places with the Bulacan Kuyas-Ligo Sardines.
