The Department of Justice (DOJ) has filed new drug charges against the personalities involved in the importation of P6.4 billion worth of shabu from China in May 2017.
This shipment of 604 kilos of shabu went through the express lane of the Bureau of Customs (BOC).
The Department of Justice (DOJ) filed new criminal complaints at Valenzuela Regional Trial Court (RTC).
Named respondents were self-confessed Customs fixer Mark Taguba, businessman Kenneth Dong, Richard Tan, Teejay Marcellana, Eirene May Tatad, Li Guan Feng, Chen I. Min and Jhu Ming Jyun.
The complaints were filed by DOJ prosecutor Jorge Catalan Jr.
It was deemed that the accused violated the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act under the provision on transporting illegal drugs.
In his testimony in previous Senate hearings, Taguba had confessed to giving grease money to Customs officials to facilitate the release of shipments.
He, however, denied the cargoes he was processing contained shabu.
The cases filed today are separate from the charges already filed at the Manila Regional Trial Court (RTC).
