‘Karcher Cleans the World’ comes to Manila

In its efforts to preserve the Rizal Monument, the National Historical Commission of the Philippines and the National Parks Development Committee partnered with Kärcher, the global leader in cleaning technology, to clean and spruce up the Rizal Shrine in Luneta on Dec. 14, 2017.

Karcher used high pressure cleaning, the same specialized techniques it has employed to help restore over 100 historic monuments worldwide to their former glory under its ongoing global initiative, Kärcher Cleans the World. These monumental cleaning projects include the Matsudagawa dam in Japan, Brandenburg Gate in Berlin, the Statue of Liberty in New York, and the famous Merlion in Sentosa, Singapore.

Last year, Karcher chose the Philippines as its beneficiary for the campaign with the cleanup of the Rizal Monument, which, throughout the years, has seen its fair share of wear and tear. Its white granite obelisk, together with the bronze statue of Rizal, was unfortunately a far cry from its original look as streaks of black dirt collected over the decades tarnished its once-regal appearance.

Being the world market leader in cleaning technology, it was an honor for Kärcher to be able to harness its expertise to restore such a monument that embodies the life and works of the great Filipino martyr.

Hartmut Jenner, CEO and chairman of the Management Board of Kärcher said, “Standing as a beacon of Filipino culture and values, the Rizal Monument deserves nothing but the utmost care about its appearance, and we are honored to be given this opportunity. This assignment also reaffirms Kärcher’s commitment to our clients in the Philippines, and our mission to preserve historical landmarks around the globe.”
