BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya—A proposed energy project is being worked out here between the provincial government and officials of West Flanders City in Belgium.
A delegation of Belgian officials led by West Flanders Deputy Director Jean de Bethune recently visited the province and met with Gov. Carlos Padilla, Vice Gov. Lambert Galima Jr. and other provincial officials.
Padilla said the visitors also toured possible sites for the proposed energy project, which is expected to be built in partnership with five local government units of the province.
During the Belgians’ three-day visit, the project was discussed with the recipient and partner LGUs, St. Mary’s University, Nueva Vizcaya State University, Agrizkaya’s store processing center and demo farm, and officials of the Munguia Multipurpose Cooperative in Barangay Oyao in Dupax del Norte town.
“The Belgians will soon discuss their accomplishments and the preparatory stage of the synergy project, which is targeted in a three-year program,” Padilla said.
An agreement will also be finalized and signed among the sponsor, recipient LGUs, academe, provincial government, and civil society organizations, he added.
“This will help our farmers in coping with the challenge of climate change that ill redound to the further development of the province’s agricultural and natural resources,” the governor said.
