The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) has granted the petition to hold a recall elections in San Juan City.
The poll body has released a resolution that serves as notice for the holding of this electoral exercise.
The decision favors the petition filed by supporters of San Juan Vice Mayor Francis Zamora.
Comelec said the petitioners fulfilled the requirements for a recall election.
The petitioners submitted about 35,000 signatures of San Juan residents affirming the desire to hold the mayoralty elections.
Only 15,000 signatures are needed.
The recall elections affect the post of San Juan Mayor Guia Gomez.
After receiving a copy of the resolution, Gomez has three days to submit a motion for reconsideration.
