The Mitsubishi Montero Sport won the major title for the Model of the Year Award as it landed as the Auto Focus People’s Choice Awards for being the Midsize SUV of the Year. Two special awards in the Media’s Choice category under the midsize SUV were also awarded to the Montero Sport.
Among its contenders on the midsize SUV segment the Montero Sport was voted by the media as top in terms of safety features and engine performance. Thus, coveting the Best Safety Features and Best Engine Performance Media’s Choice awards. Last year, MMPC launched the all-new Montero Sport which is equipped with world’s first clean diesel engine. The Mitsubishi Innovative Valve timing Electronic Control (MIVEC) clean diesel engine boasts of a low compression ratio, thus reducing fuel consumption, smoke and Carbon Dioxide (CO2) emissions as well as maximizing the output of the Variable Geometry Turbo (VGT). Apart from the all-new 4N15 engine, this year MMPC introduced an upgraded Montero Sport with an improved innovative all-around safety features. The top of the line Montero Sport GT boasts an array of safety features such as Ultrasonic Misacceleration Mitigation System, Forward Collision Mitigation (FCM) System, Blind Spot Warning System, Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution (RISE) Body, 7 SRS Airbags, Hill Descent Control, and Hill Start Assist.
