A total of 240 lawmakers approved the motion granting the extension of President Rodrigo Duterte's proclamation of martial law and the suspension of the writ of habeas corpus in Mindanao for one year.
A total of 27 lawmakers voted against the extension.
These figures were a result of the nominal voting that took place at 1:26 pm today at the joint session of Senate and Congress in Batasang Pambansa.
14 senators voted yes while 4 voted no.
226 members of the House voted in the affirmative while 23 representatives cast negative votes.
Lawmakers are currently explaining their votes.
Senator Francis Pangilinan is the first in line.
The Senate and House leaderships held the voting after hearing interpellations of 20 lawmakers of security officials of Malacañang.
Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea, Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana and new Armed Forces Chief of Staff Rey Guerrero led the cabinet officials who served as resource persons during the session.
