BAGUIO CITY—Two officials of the Cordillera office of the Department of Public Works and Highways are facing graft charges before the Office of the Ombudsman for their alleged failure to file their Statement of Assets and Liabilities and Net Worth for several years.
In his affidavit-complaint dated Nov. 16, anti-corruption advocate Salvador Liked accused DPWH Regional Director Nerie Bueno of not filing her SALN for the years 2007, 2008 and 2012.
Liked also alleged that engineer Nestor Nicolas failed to submit his SALN in 2008 and 2012.
On May 29, the records officer of the Deputy Ombudsman for Luzon issued a certification stating that Bueno did not file her SALN for said years in Liked’s complaint.
A separate certification was issued in Oct. 11 on Nicolas’ failure to file his SALN.
“It is crystal clear that Bueno and Nicolas violated Section 8 of RA 6713 or the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officeials and Employees not once but several times. Thus, they must be prosecuted for the same,” Liked said.
Liked likewise accused Bueno of allegedly underdeclaring her real properties in a bid to evade paying higher taxes.
