VILLAMOR put on a pair of strong efforts in the first two legs of the three-stage WGAP Cup at Riviera and Summit Point courses and moved closer to achieving what it had failed to do in the WGAP Circuit.
The Villamor ladies topped the first leg at Riviera’s Langer layout, scoring three points in the high-low format for Classes A and B players then matched Forest Hills and Sta. Elena’s 2.5-point outputs in the second leg at Summit under the best-ball format for Classes B and C players.
With 5.5 points, the Villamor ladies took a one-point lead over Forest Hills heading to the final leg today (Wednesday, Nov. 8) at Splendito Taal Golf Club in Tagaytay where play shifts to Greensome format for Classes A and C players.
Villamor fell by just one point to Tagaytay Highlands in their spirited battle for the 2017 WGAP Circuit last month. But the Pasay-based squad came up with a big start at Langer to beat Alabang and Forest Hills, which scored two points piece.
Defending WGAP Cup champion Tagaytay Highlands struggled with 1.5 points while Sta. Elena turned in a one-point output in the event sponsored by Champion Infinity which features the top five teams in the WGAP circuit organized by the Women’s Golf Association of the Philippines.
Forest Hills, winner in 2015, assembled 4.5 points after two legs, Sta. Elena had four points while Tagaytay Highlands and Alabang are tied at three points.
