The commissioners of the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) can appoint an Officer-in-Charge (OIC) while President Rodrigo Duterte has not decided on the replacement of resigned Comelec Chairman Andres Bautista.
Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella made this remark during the briefing in Malacanang on Tuesday.

Abella said the commissioners may choose among themselves who will head the poll body for the mean time.
Yesterday, the palace accepted the resignation of Bautista and this is effective immediately.
The name of Presidential Adviser Salvador Panelo is cropping up as possible candidate to the Comelec post.
Panelo, however, said he is not eyeing the position.
