DDB to help fulfill PDEA’s mandate, says Santiago

THE Dangerous Drugs Board will help the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency lobby for additional support from Congress to reinforce PDEA’s manpower and beef up its capability.

DDB Chairman Dionisio Santiago assured the public that policies needed to improve the services and capability of PDEA are in place.

“The public can also be assured that drug prevention and advocacy programs will continuously be strengthened to complement the supply reduction strategy and bring forth a comprehensive, balanced and holistic approach to the drug problem,” he said.

He said DDB welcomes President Rodrigo Duterte’s memorandum directing PDEA to lead the war on drugs.

“The directive is in accordance with the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 or Republic Act 9165 which mandates PDEA to enforce the provisions of the law and serve as the implementing arm of the DDB, particularly in the conduct of supply reduction measures,” he added.
