‘Enforce rules vs illegal sale of uniforms’

The Philippine National Police on Monday ordered all police units and offices to enforce stricter measures to stop the proliferation of unauthorized sellers, manufacturers, and distributors of PNP uniforms and accessories in a bid to deter criminals and other civilians from using military clothing in committing crimes.

In a memorandum, PNP chief Ronald dela Rosa ordered all PNP offices and units nationwide to implement stricter measures on the regulation and control of the use, manufacture, sale, and distribution of PNP-owned industrial designs of uniforms and accoutrements,
Dela Rosa has tapped Task Force “Bantay-Bihis” and other PNP units in implementing the new order.

“The memorandum also emphasized PNP uniforms with patches and seals are being used by some criminals and other civilians to usurp the authority and to take advantage for their unlawful actions that ravage the image of the police force to gain the trust and confidence of the public,” said PNP spokesman Chief Supt Dionardo Carlos in a statement.
