SENATOR Antonio Trillanes IV has sponsored a measure granting special financial assistance and benefits to the beneficiaries of uniformed and law enforcement personnel.
“There is no doubt that the lives and well-being of our uniformed and law enforcement personnel are at risk in the performance of their duties, especially in light of the anti-drug and anti-crime campaign of the current administration and the ongoing conflict in Marawi and other parts of Mindanao,” Trillanes said.
Under Senate Bill No. 1462, the government will provide assistance to the family of members of the Philippine National Police, Armed Forces of the Philippines, Bureau of Fire Protection, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, Philippine Coast Guard, National Bureau of Investigation, Bureau of Corrections and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in case they get killed or are permanently incapacitated in line of duty.
The measure seeks to expand the coverage of Republic Act No. 6963, which only covers relatives of PNP, AFP, and BFP members.
“Through this measure, we hope to assure our uniformed and law enforcement personnel that the government will continue to look after welfare of their families, especially after their selfless service to this country,” Trillanes said.
