BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya”•Narciso Edillo, Department of Agriculture regional director for Cagayan Valley, has encouraged farmers here to plant more garlic and onions in the wake of the importation ban on the spices imposed by the national government.
“This will be a good opportunity for our farmers to earn because there is ban on importation of onion and garlic products in the country,” he said.
Edillo said Filipino farmers are expected to fill the huge demand for onion and garlic needed in the country, and encouraged local farmers to use many idle lands and consult local agriculturists for its possible potential for the cash crop.
“In this way, we can shift to other feasible and profitable agriculture ventures so that our farmers can get more income,” he said.
