Dumlao said the killing of the kidnaps suspects led to the rescue of kidnap victim Anial Kumar Sohal, an Indian businessman, in the shootout with the kidnappers.

Police reports said Sohal was forcibly snatched last Aug. 13 by the suspects in Biñan, Laguna, wherein the suspects demanded P20 million for his immediate release. Shortly after the incident, the victim’s relatives immediately informed authorities of Sohal’s predicament.

Dumlao said a relative of the victim was told by the suspects to bring P935,000 cash as an initial payment to be picked up at Southwoods tollgate in Biñan, Laguna on Wednesday.

On that date, the suspects on board a blue Toyota Corolla bearing license plate UMA 548 showed up at the pay-off point where a discussion transpired with the victim’s relative.

The relative of the victim demanded the suspects for a proof of life of Sohal. The relative was then told by the kidnappers that their kin was at a fastfood chain just near the pay-off point.

The police operatives, sensing that the victim was indeed at the fastfood eatery, subdued the three suspects. However, the suspects challenged the arresting team, which in turn, killed the three suspected kidnappers.

Noticing the death of his cohorts, another suspect guarding the victim hurriedly fled leaving his captive behind.
