Senator Grace Poe is holding an urgent meeting with officials of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) and representatives of the app-based ride-sharing transport company Uber.
The closed-door meeting is happening on Wednesday in one of the committee rooms of the Senate in Pasay City.
Present in the meeting are LTFRB Chairman Martin Delgra and LTFRB Board Member Aileen Lizada, as well as two Uber executives.
Poe has decided to hold the talks in private so as to do away with the formalities of a public event.
She is expected to serve as referee between the two parties, as arguments may ensue.
The meeting comes, following the one-month suspension the LTFRB imposed against Uber's operations.
The LTFRB had alleged that Uber defied the order to stop accrediting new drivers into its platforms.
Poe earlier described the suspension order cruel and absurd.
She said it has detrimental effects to the safety and convenience of thousands of commuters.
The lawmaker heads the Senate Committee on Public Services.
