The Communication Research department of the UP Diliman College of Mass Communication (UP-CMC) is holding the 5th National Communication Research Conference on Nov. 22-25 in Baguio City, with the theme “FCX: The Filipino Communicative Experience.”

The event is being staged in cooperation with the UP Baguio College of Arts and Communication, the University of the Cordilleras, and the Philippines Communication Society. It is open to the public. This is the first time it is being held outside Metro Manila, opening it to wider inter-regional interaction and scholarly collaboration.

Last year’s conference attracted nearly 1,000 attendees who viewed 30 research presentations. This year’s event has three pre- and post-conference workshops that will provide students with valuable knowledge about research conceptualization, methodologies, and dissemination.

Students, faculty, and communication professionals will be presenting research papers on communication and media studies. Among the themes that will be covered are: Filipinos as creators and audiences of content in traditional and new media; communication in various Filipino groups such as family; indigenous peoples, and organizations; and communication in Philippine politics and governance, development, and identity (religion, gender, class, etc.).

The deadline for submission of abstracts has been extended to Aug. 31. Abstracts must be between 350 to 500 words, in Filipino, other Filipino languages, or English. Include five keywords. Find out more on Facebook: @NCRCPhilippines.
