STA. CRUZ, Laguna—Authorities have arrested 55 “most wanted” persons for various crimes after the first two days of “Project Janitor Fish,” which the Laguna Police Provincial Office through its Provincial Intelligence Branch (PIB) launched Monday.
Supt. Vic Cabatingan, chief of the Laguna PIB, said the operation was named after the janitor fish, which cleans up debris in a tropical aquarium.
“The same is true of the operation, as we picked up those facing charges,” Cabatingan said.
According to Acting Provincial Police Director Sr. Supt. Cecilio R. Ison Jr., this project was conducted in relation to ‘Manhunt Charlie’ and aims to address the grievances of some complainants and victims, including the issuing court, on the slow pace in the aspect of law enforcement, particularly in the immediate arrest of suspects.
The 55 suspects arrested by virtue of warrants of arrest in the different city and municipal police stations were presented in a press conference.
Arrested persons from the Top 10 Most Wanted Persons Manhunt Charlie were five from the city level—rank number 3 of Cabuyao CPS, rank 4 of San Pedro CPS, ranks 9 and 10 of Calamba CPS, and rank number 10 of Sta Rosa CPS
Nine suspects from the municipal level included two most wanted persons with ranks number 2 and 4 of Sta Cruz Municipal Police Station, rank number 1 of Pila MPS, ranks number 5 and 6 of Pangil MPS, ranks number 7 of Pangil and of Kalayaan MPS, and rank number 10 of Siniloan MPS.
Among the Top 10 Most Wanted Persons in “Lambat Sibat” who were arrested were one rank number 2 of San Pablo CPS for the city level, and rank number 7 and 10 of Liliw MPS on the municipal level.
Two of the 53 arrested most wanted persons from the outside of the jurisdiction were wanted in Bauan, Batangas and Pasig City.
Ison said “We launched this project and will continuously conduct it in our aim to help the citizens to attain justice especially those who became victims of those crimes committed by the suspects.
“We have tracker teams that will function in tracing the wanted persons who are hiding in different places through proper coordination. Though, we may not be able to effectively and efficiently do this without the participation of our community,” he added.
Police encouraged concerned citizens to help them trace the suspects by providing relevant information through their hotline numbers in “Ibato Mo, Text Mo” and other means, with the safety of their identity assured.
