THE quartet of Anfernee Lopena, Patrick Unso, Archand Christian Bagsit and Trenten Beram added a silver to the Philippines’ collection of medals in the 2017 Hong Kong Invitational Athletics’ meet last Sunday.
The foursome clocked a national record-breaking 39.96 seconds to place second behind Hong Kong-A in the 4×100 meter relays, according the officials results.
Their clocking shattered the 40.29-second national mark set by the team of Eric Cray, Jomar Udtohan, Beram and Lopena in the National Open last March.
Hong Kong B settled for the bronze in 40.3 seconds.
It was also Bagsit’s second medal after he took the gold in the 200-meter run in 22 seconds, finishing ahead of Li Chau Hsuan and Li Yili. Bagsit clocked a faster 21.76 seconds in the heats, though.
Eloiza Luzon took the gold in distaff side in 24.94 seconds, prevailing over Chen Ka Yi (26.55) and Julian Rueven (26.75).
Meanwhile, Katherine Kay Santos leapt 6.06 meters in the women’s long jump for the gold.
Janry Ubas, on the other hand, took the men’s gold in 7.67 meters, outperforming Chan Ming Kai’s 7.5 and Wong Kan’s 7.25.
