This is an exciting time for Philippine entertainment as Globe Telecom, through its original productions arm Globe LIVE, invites audiences to revisit the world of Pandora with Cirque du Soleil’s Toruk – The First Flight.
Toruk – The First Flight, is a theatrical extravaganza inspired by James Cameron’s smash hit Avatar. Audiences will be transported to the breathtaking world of Pandora in a visually stunning live setting, where the Na’vi tribes live in harmony with nature.
“We all fell in love with Avatar when it first came out in 2009. We were captivated by the storytelling, the special effects, and the world that Cameron created in his mind,” shares Senior Advisor for Creative Marketing and Multimedia Business, Joe Caliro. “It’s one that Cirque du Soleil is recreating for Filipino audiences, and one that Globe Live is excited to be a part of.”
Toruk – The First Flight will be staged at the Mall of Asia Arena from June 23 to July 2. Globe Platinum customers get 20 percent discount for the for the first three shows. And as a special treat, all Globe customers get 15 percent discount on tickets.
Narrated by a “Na’vi Storyteller” and populated by unforgettable characters, Toruk – The First Flight is a mythical tale set thousands of years before the events depicted in the film AVATAR, and before any humans ever set foot on Pandora.
Through a riveting fusion of cutting-edge visuals, puppetry and stagecraft buoyed by a soaring cinematic score, Cirque du Soleil applies its unique signature style to James Cameron’s imaginary world and “makes the bond” between two kindred artistic visions that capture the imagination.
“Globe Live is about creating unforgettable experiences, and Toruk is our latest initiative in our commitment to bringing international acts for local audiences,” adds Caliro.
This year alone, Globe Live partnered to bring Wicked to the Philippines. Soon, it will bring West Side Story and The Sound of Music. Next month, Globe Live is staging a local adaptation of Disney’s Newsies, a hit Broadway dance musical.
