Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) Philippines and Japan recently partnered to donate thirty (30) units of computers to the local government unit of President Roxas in North Cotabato. The units will be used to establish an IT learning centre that will help educate out of school youth in the province. The project is under the supervision of Class for Everyone, a non-profit organisation that aims to create equal educational opportunities for everyone through web-based learning. At the turnover ceremony were Standard Chartered Bank Philippines chief executive officer Lynette V. Ortiz; Standard Chartered Japan’s unit head of technology services Masayuki Fujimoto; Class for Everyone director Koji Takahama; and Municipality of President Roxas councilor Jonathan O. Mahimpit. “Standard Chartered Bank believes that education plays a key role in a progressive community and this is why the bank’s global sustainability programs largely focus on health and education,” said Ortiz.
