Unstoppable Lee retains ONE crown

ANGELA “Unstoppable” Lee continued to live up to her moniker by retaining her ONE Atomweight World Championship with a spectacular submission of top contender Istela Nunes of Brazil during ONE: Dynasty of Champions at the Singapore Indoor Stadium last Friday, May 26.

In an exciting main event showdown between two talented females Lee overcame the spirited challenge of Nunes to win by submission in the second round.

After catching Nunes with a twister in the first stanza, the bout appeared all but over. However, through sheer willpower and determination, Nunes was able to power through the situation and survive.

In the second round, Lee went right back to work on the ground, finishing Nunes with an anaconda choke to retain her title.

“I really love you guys and it’s an honor to fighter here (in Singapore) as your champion. To everyone who is watching from all around the world, thank you guys so much, it means the world to me,” said Lee in the post-fight interview. “The anaconda choke is one of our favorites, so I was really happy to win with that submission tonight.”

In other fights of the evening ONE Welterweight World Championship Ben Askren defeated Agilan Thani by submission through Arm Triangle Choke at 2:20 of the first round.

Zebaztian Kadestam established himself as the top welterweight contender with a devastating knockout victory over Luis Santos who was knocked senseless with a knee to the head at 2:18 mark of the third round.

In the ONE Grappling Super-Match bout Garry Tonon defeated Shinya Aoki by submission through Heel Hook.

Dejdamrong Sor Amnuaysirichoke showcased his frightening striking power at strawweight by knocking Adrian Matheis after just 44 seconds.

In a flyweight bout Geje Eustaquio prevailed over Anatpong Bunrad by posting a Split Decision after three rounds

Amir Khan defeated Rajinder Singh Meena in a lightweight bout by TKO through Strikes at 1:29 of the first round.

In a women’s strawweight bout that went the distance Tiffany Teo defeated Rebecca Heintzman-Rozewski by Unanimous Decision after three rounds.

Rika Ishige defeated Nita Dea by Submission through Rear Naked Choke at 2:39 minutes of round 1 of their atomweight bout.

In a catchweight bout at 69 kg Chen Lei defeated Jeremy Meciaz by TKO through strikes at the 2:56 minute mark of round 1.
