New earth-friendly building and development technologies are among the vital topics to be discussed as the world’s top ecotourism experts gather in the Philippines for the first Subic Ecotourism Festival set from May 29 to June 1. To be held at the Subic Bay Exhibition and Convention Center, it is the biggest of its kind in the Philippines which will highlight ecotourism, a vital concept in the booming industry in biodiversity-rich countries. One such eco-tourism establishment is the El Nido Resorts in Palawan, which conforms to the stringent ecotourism standards and criteria of an authentic ecolodge (Shown in photo). The event is organized by the International School of Sustainable Tourism (ISST) and the Department of Tourism. The event is for government policy-makers, infrastructure developers, tourism, travel and hospitality professionals, and faculty and students in line with the United Nations World Tourism Organization’s declaration of 2017 as the International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development.
