Remarkable music and fine French cuisine came together and delighted foodies and art aficionados in Musique et Gastronomie, the fundraising send-off concert of Coro San Benildo, the resident choral group of De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB), at Vatel Restaurant at Hotel Benilde Maison de La Salle.
The exquisite meal was prepared by Vatel Executive French Chef Pierre Cornelis as members of the choir entertained the guests with a selection of songs from its repertoire of madrigals, art melodies, and pop hits.
Guests had a choice of dining at Vatel Restaurant either for dinner on May 12, or lunch on at 12 noon or dinner on the following day.
The team participated at the 46th Florilège Vocal de Tours International Choral Competition in Tours, France, one of the most prestigious choral competitions in the world. Winning the championship at the said contest is a step towards participation in the most coveted European Grand Prix for Choral Singing to be held in Maribor, Slovenia in May 2018.
Coro San Benildo, led by choirmaster Lorenzo C. Gealogo, is under the Office of Culture and Arts. Having participated in numerous festivals, it has transformed into a globally competitive group. Their strong sense of innovation and showmanship garnered them numerous awards and recognitions.
Recently, they were hailed winners at the Youth Choir Category of Llangollen International Music Eisteddfod in Wales, United Kingdom.
Proceeds raised from the concert funded the airfare of the delegation.
