2 Cebuana net titles to Suson

MARC Nicole Suson from Cebu City continued his domination of the 16-under and 18-under boys’ categories at the recent 19th leg of the 2017 Cebuana Lhuillier Age-Group Championship Series held in Bais City in Negros Oriental by taking both titles and beating the same opponent.

Suson swept Dipolog City bet Stephen Zion Guia, 6-4, 6-4, in the finals of the 16-under, then repeated in the 18-under finals, 6-3, 6-2, against the same foe in the tournament, now on its 11th year of discovering and producing champions from the provincial regions.

The netfest is also supported by Dunlop as the official ball .

“This young player will definitely make his mark soon at the national level. He has been one of the most dominant players in the series,” said sportsman-businessman Jean Henri Lhuillier, President/CEO of the sponsoring Cebuana Lhuillier.

Meanwhile, local bets Jacob Diago and Diana Fe Perez gave reasons  to the host city to celebrate as they ruled their respective divisions in the tournament, with Diago taking home the 12-under boys’ crown at the expense of Siquijor’s Francis Samson, whom he beat 6-3, 1-6, 10-5, and Perez sweeping Sheynna Yu from Dumaguete, 7-5, 6-0, in the finals of the girls’ 14-under.

Boholano John Kenneth Jumamoy went home with two titles, beating Faith Khiarrah Banico 5-3, 2-4, 4-2, for the 10-under crown before teaming up with Krist Aaron Banico in a 4-2, 4-1 win over the tandem of Jade Ann Catulong and James Zyril Romadia for the 10-under doubles’ title.

The other winner in the boys’ side was Aaron Jacque Geromo  from Molave, Zamboanga del Norte as he made short work of Ozamis City bet Ashton benne Villanueva, 6-4, 6-2, for the 14-under boys’ crown.

In the distaff side, Siquijor native Ellaine Rose Bahonsua also continued her winning ways as she pocketed the girls’ 16-under title  with an easy 6-2, 6-2 win over Dumaguete’s Ghyllian Yu; Faith Banico swept aside Louise Paliwag of Valencia, Negros Oriental, 6-1, 6-2, in the  12-under finals and Trixie Gudelosao  from Bohol dominated Tayasan, Negros Oriental player Sunzel Faith Callao, 6-4, 6-2, for the 18 & under crown.

Gudelosao also emerged a double winner as she and partner Bahonsua won over Ghyllana Yu and Mariepol Lacpao, 8-3, in the finals of the girls’ 18-under doubles category; Fahd Kenneth Banico and Heart Sotto brushed aside the challenge of Lorenze Celis and Wilfredo Gorospe for the boys’ 16-under crown, while Harland Hogan and Villanueva posted an 8-4 win over  the duo of Simon Anqui and Randy Tatoy to take home the boys’ 14-under title.

Shairrhyn Callao and Shai Kristel Marie Masicampo teamed up beautifully to beat Sheynna Yu and Perez, 8-4, and emerged  14-under girls’ doubles champions.
