AMAYA Paz Cojuangco is expected to be back in the coming 2017 Southeast Asian Games.
The two-time SEA Games gold medalist earned her spot in the list of candidates to the national pool after earning the silver medal in the women’s compound final at the Asia Cup in the Huamark Archery Venue in Bangkok, Thailand last month.
The 31-year-old Cojuangco emerged as the only podium finisher among a 16-member team that represented the Philippines in the 10-event competition.
Philippine Archers National Network and Alliance (PANNA) secretary-general Rosendo Sombrio in a radio interview said Cojuangco is among those who currently have high scores during ongoing practices.
He also named 15-year-old Nicole Tagle as another prospect for the Games.
Tagle made it to the semifinals of the competition and to the playoff for the bronze medal in women’s recurve.
Paul de la Cruz, a top performer in the men’s compound, is among the new faces along with Joseph Vicencio who are also being eyed to have a spot.
Sombrio also believes that Jennifer Chan can make it along with women’s receurve specialist Karyl Hongitan.
In the men’s side, they are reviewing the performances of Flor Matan and Gab Moreno.
On the other hand, Tagle is a promising bet for a slot in the Youth Olympic Games.
