Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea attended the 31st Anniversary of EDSA People Power Revolution on Friday, on behalf of President Rodrigo Duterte.
The event was held for the first time inside the Armed Forces Headquarters in Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City.
“Simple yet memorable” was how Medialdea described the celebration.
1986 EDSA People Power Revolution’s main players, former President Fidel Ramos, former Defense Secretary Juan Ponce Enrile and Senator Gringo Honasan, were present.
Former Vice President Jejomar Binay also attended the event.
The traditional “salubungan” was excluded from the program.
Ramos still performed his famous “jump.”
Memorable songs like “Magkaisa,” “Ako ay Pilipino” and “Bayan Ko” were sung.
The Duterte administration wanted a quiet and simple commemoration of EDSA People Power, saying that it is time for reflection and moving on.
