Maja fights for family and love in ‘Wildflower’

Revenge has never been wild as Maja Salvador stages her much-awaited comeback on television as Ivy, a woman who will do everything to avenge her parents’ death brought about by a powerful political clan in Wildflower beginning today on ABS-CBN.

Before anger turns her into Ivy, get to know her first as Lily (Xyriel Manabat), a young girl who grew up in a loving family. Her father Dante (Christian Vasquez), who worked as a PAO lawyer, unfortunately received death threats for a case he handled. This prompted him to leave town with his wife Camia (Sunshine Cruz) and their daughter and relocate to Poblacion Ardiente.

The first week in Poblacion Ardiente went well for her family, especially Lily, who easily found a friend in Diego (Jesse James Ongteco).

However, misfortunes continued to haunt their family when Diego’s father, Raul Torillo (Wendell Ramos), lusted over Camia and sexually harassed her. Without hesitation, Dante immediately filed a case against Raul, who happened to be the husband of town mayor Emilia Ardiente Torillo (Aiko Melendez). To protect their family’s reputation, Emilia took matters into her own hands.

In just a snap, Lily’s life suddenly crashed when his father suspiciously died in a heart attack. Lily was forced to leave her mother. Luckily, Lily escaped the wrath of the Ardientes and found herself in the home of Prianka Aguas (Priscilla Meirelles), who adopted her and raised her like her own.

Few years after, Lily finally returns to Poblacion Ardiente as the seductive and powerful Ivy, who vows to seek revenge against the Ardientes. Everything will work out as planned, until she crosses paths with her long lost friend, Diego Ardiente Torillo (Joseph Marco).

How will Diego affect Ivy’s plans to avenge her family? Will justice for the death of her parents finally be served? Is there a chance for forgiveness and love in Ivy’s heart?

Also joining the cast are Tirso Cruz III, RK Bagatsing, Vin Abrenica, Malou De Guzman, Ana Abad Santos, Arnold Reyes, and Izzy Canillo.

Wildflower is directed by Onat Diaz, Raymond Ocampo, Cathy Camarillo under the production unit headed by Ruel Bayani.

Coco Martin’s character in FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano has been earning praises from the audience. 

Recently, Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Mike Sueno lauded the actor’s portrayal of a policeman for being a good example to the police force during the 26th Philippine National Police (PNP) Foundation Day on Feb. 6.

“Let us show that heroism is still alive in the police force, in the people who are expected to be modern-day heroes, such as Cardo Dalisay in the series Ang Probinsyano,” he said in his speech.

Aside from Sueno, PNP Chief Ronald de la Rosa also praised Coco and the series  for the lessons it imparts to viewers, according to news reports.

The House of the Representative also commended the series for promoting crime awareness and prevention among viewers and endorsed Coco as “Celebrity Advocate for a Drug-Free Philippines.”

FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano, which has been on air for more than a year now, has received praises for teaching viewers about the consequences of crime and imparting life lessons about family and patriotism. It revolves around the life and struggle of Cardo while performing his duty as a member of the PNP Criminal Investigation and Detection Group.

The program is also the most watched program in the country, based on data from Kantar Media covering urban and rural homes. It has gained praises from viewers as it reveals the operations of several syndicates and tackles crimes such as drug trafficking and prostitution.

Several award-giving bodies has also recognized the series, including Gawad Tanglaw, Anak TV Awards, and PMPC Star Awards.

Gloria’s fight to keep her family intact despite her illness in The Greatest Love continues to touch the lives of viewers as the Kapamilya afternoon series enjoyed a weeklong winning streak in nationwide ratings versus its new rival program.

From Jan. 30 to Feb. 3, the Sylvia Sanchez-starrer kept its winning streak as it hit a weekly national TV rating of 14.6 percent, while its rival program Pinulot Ka Lang sa Lupa only registered an 11.9 percent ratings points.

With its heart-wrenching story, The Greatest Love has resonated with viewers as it shares values on family and educates people about Alzheimer’s disease, which helps promote awareness of the illness.

Last Thursday one of Gloria’s priced possessions was burnt together with her memories as their house was engulfed by fire, causing chaos in her family.
