NINE provincial bus stations in Pasay City may be closed by the government for continue defying a traffic policy aimed to further ease traffic along Epifanio de los Santos Avenue.
On Tuesday, Metro Manila Development Authority acting chairman Thomas Orbos inspected the bus stations and found the nine out of the 16 terminals still violating the “nose-in, nose-out” policy despite the warning gave to them last week.
“Two bus companies said they will be the ones who will demolish the wall, we offered ourselves but they refused. The other one wish not to talk and the rest promised they will transfer to a common terminals,” said Orbos.
The nine bus companies include Aranda Line, RMB Liner, Grand Transport, Diamond Star, Ma Victoria Transport Inc., DLTB Co., Dimple Star, St. Jude Bus Lines and C. Bragais/Pamar Bus Co., which terminals are situated near Tramo Street corner Edsa.
Orbos said the bus companies failed the “Nose-In, Nose-Out” test during their first surprise inspection Wednesday last week. He added most of these firms also lacked the maneuvering space at their own terminals, a clear violation of the policy.
“No more second chance. We already gave them enough time. The Nose-In Nose-Out is under the law and this is a coordinated campaign with other agencies, that’s why we have the LTFRB [Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board] on our side. If we have to close them down we will do it,” he said.
