Indigent families get DoH assistance

THE Department of Health regional office in Mimaropa has has served 64,361 family members under the conditional cash transfer program of the government since the start of the program in September.

Regional Director Eduardo C. Janairo said they will continue to seek families needing immediate care and attention especially those in island barangays and provide them the health care they need.

“We will ensure that hospitals, clinics, medicines, and doctors’ services will be available for them. Health workers will also be provided with the necessary training and support they need to carry out their duties,” he emphasized.

The program provides an essential package of health services including complete physical examination such as weighing of under five children, developmental assessment of infants, BP measurement, eye, ear and dental examination, breast exam; laboratory test like blood typing, blood sugar testing, urinalysis, sputum exam, fecalysis, malaria smear testing, eye checkup, complete blood count and newborn screening for infants.

Other health services being given are immunization and deworming for missed children, micronutrient supplementation, on the spot Family planning services, dental services

Oriental Mindoro, 1,512 were referred to rural health units and 299 in hospitals; a total of 140 were referred to RHUs and 97 in hospitals in Occidental Mindoro; 156 were referred to RHUs and six to hospitals in Marinduque; Romblon with 2,420 referred in RHUs and 94 in hospitals; and 690 were referred to RHUs and 84 to hospitals in Palawan.

There were 28 patients with severe health problems given free medical services in Palawan and are now discharged and well.

The program is a roll-out service that aims to provide 20-million poor and marginalized Filipinos with free access to essential health packages under the “All for Health Towards Health for All” Health Agenda of the government.

The program aspires for equal health opportunity for all Filipinos regardless of age.
