Abra declared a calamity area

Abra has been added to the provinces in Cordillera that are under a State of Calamity in the aftermath of super typhoon ‘Lawin.’

The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) made the announcement.

A total of 18,871 families in 24 towns in Abra were affected by the typhoon.

At least 5,063 houses in the province were damaged. 

These figures were provided by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).

Kalinga and Mountain Province have earlier been placed under a State of Calamity.

Ifugao and Benguet may also make the same pronouncement after local officials complete the assessment of the destruction wrought by typhoon 'Lawin' in their areas.
