Senior citizens in Noveleta, Cavite can now watch movies for free in nearby Rosario. The local Sangguniang Bayan presided by Vice Mayor Dionisio Torres approved on Monday, Sept. 19, the resolution sponsored by Councilor Elvira Magat and seconded by Councilor Dave Reyes Chua granting authority to Mayor Chua to enter into an agreement with the management of SM cinemas in nearby Rosario for the “Libreng Sine” for the elderlies of Noveleta, which he launched on Sept. 26 after he sighed the Memorandum of Agreement along with SM Prine Holdings.
Under the Republic Act 9994 otherwise know as ‘Expanded Senior Citizens Act of 2010’ to provides for the 20 percent discount privilege to elders on cinema admissions.
The local government unit (LGU) will shoulder the remaining 80 percent admission fee as part of the subsidy for the more than 5000 bona fide residents with local citizen identification card.
