Tension gripped the Senate session on Monday afternoon.
Senate President Koko Pimentel was forced to suspend the proceeding because of the exchange between Senators Alan Peter Cayetano and Antonio Trillanes.
Trillanes reportedly had plans of delivering a privilege speech to say that there are no inconsistencies in the testimony of Edgar Matobato, who was reportedly a former member of the Davao Death Squad (DDS).
Cayetano doubts the credibility of Matobato, who appeared twice in the Senate hearings on the alleged extra-judicial killings.
In wondering how Trillanes knew that Matobato was not a liar, Cayetano, during the session, said, ‘it takes one to know one.’
Trillanes asked Cayetano if he could come forward and approach him, apparently to confront him.
Cayetano replied that if Trillanes wanted to approach him to hug him or if he planned on making other moves, both actions were okay with him.
Pimentel immediately suspended the session, sensing that the brewing confrontation between the two senators.
