Mayor Abigail Binay on Thursday urged members of the Makati City Council to pass a resolution extending the validity of the Yellow Card, known in the city as Health Plus Program, from one year to three years.
The Yellow Card provides government-subsidized health care for Makati residents, city government workers and other qualified beneficiaries.
“For the convenience of our residents and other qualified beneficiaries of the city health program, we will extend the validity of their cards to three years from the current yearly renewal,” Binay said.
Under the Yellow Card program, beneficiaries are entitled to free medicines, free outpatient consultations and subsidized hospitalization for emergency and in-patient care at the city-run Ospital ng Makati. Primary health services ranging from maternal and child care to elderly care are also provided for free at the city’s 26 barangay health centers and three lying-in clinics.
Binay also pushed for the provision of supplemental health insurance coverage to city government workers through a qualified private health insurance company.
“Through this added incentive, they could seek medical care in accredited private institutions,” she said.
The mayor, in a recent talk with members of the Makati City Development Council (MCDC), said the city government also wants to establish a unified card system that will consolidate all health and social benefits being provided by the city government for residents, city hall employees and other qualified beneficiaries.
She said all services under the Yellow Card, BLU Card, PWD Card, Solo Parent Card, the city-sponsored universal health insurance package of PhilHealth, among others, will be consolidated into a single card system.
