Global hotel brand Dusit International has signed an agreement with RCL Realty and Consulting Services Inc. and Brightbeam Corp. to develop DusitD2 at Waves Beach Club and Residences in San Juan, La Union province.
“Our goal is to meet the increasing demand from the next generation of travelers looking for unique accommodation. With that in mind, we are pleased to be here today to announce the latest addition to our portfolio of the highest quality developments and to be able to create the most upscale and exclusive Malibu-inspired developmental properties in Northern Luzon, Philippines,” says Philippine Hoteliers Inc. president and vice chairman Evelyn Singson at the signing ceremony at Dusit Thani Manila in Makati City.
DusitD2 will rise at Waves Beach Club and Residences, a seven-hectare luxury residential resort complex which is set to change the lifestyle and leisure landscape in San Juan. Opening by the first quarter of 2019, Waves is being developed as a premium Malibu-inspired lifestyle, commercial, and residential hub tucked away at the surfing capital of Northern Luzon.
“Combining competitive pricing and the best quality for development and construction, Waves is ideal for young families and professionals looking to grow their future on a resort and private neighborhood managed by credible and experienced property developers,” RCL Realty and Consulting Services Chairman and CEO Fausto Liriano says.
“We are very happy to seal this partnership with a solid brand that’s been around for over 65 years. The Dusit International brand has always been synonymous with world-class hospitality,” Liriano says.
“The resort is a first-of-its-kind in the area, and we are pleased to be partnering with RCL Realty and Consulting Services, Inc. and Brightbeam Corp. on this project as they are also known for delivering high quality developments. We are confident that they will be able to help us realise our plans for a resort that offers the distinctive combination of comfort, convenience, technology, and warm gracious service that the dusitD2 brand is world-renowned for,” says Dusit International chief operating officer Lim Boon Kwee.
The development is part of Dusit International’s aggressive expansion plan. Across the group’s four key brands are Dusit Thani, DusitD2, DusitPrincess, and Deverana.
After launching the Waves project in La Union, RCL Realty and Consulting is venturing to bring developments to higher ground, with Baguio and Tagaytay as initial sites.
Liriano says developments in major cities have already reached their peak. “Now is the right time to go to the provinces, the countryside, where opportunities for development is huge,” he says.
Liriano says big-scale developments in Metro Manila are not possible anymore, although there is still room for pocket developments for condominiums, condotels, apartments and small high-rise buildings where vertical expansion is the remaining option.
“We might take a chance with Baguio first. We’ve identified the location, possibly along Session Road, but we’re still assessing the merits of this one. Tagaytay is also a nice place to expand. We are looking for a spot we can develop that is overlooking the volcano and with great amount of scenery,” he says.
For the Waves project, the company is on schedule to deliver commitments, he says.
RCL in partnership with Brightbeam Corp. is working on the project in three phases, the first involving the villa development that will rise on a five-hectare parcel. The second phase covers the development of boutique condohotel under the Dusit brand and the third phase will be the condominiums.
