Hong Kong favorites were a big hit at the Travel Madness Expo

Avid travelers and adventure-seekers all gathered at the SMX Convention Center last July 8 to 10 for the highly anticipated Travel Madness Expo. The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) joined in on the excitement to share the amazing line up of summer activities in Asia’s World City, Hong Kong.

The HKTB pavilion highlighted the best places to SHOP, EAT and PLAY in Hong Kong this season as well as tons of special offers. Travel bugs at the event were able to seek out awesome deals, discounts and promos such as round-trip ticket promos from top airlines Cathay Pacific and Philippine Airlines.

Visitors were in for a treat at the HKTB pavilion. For every purchase of a round trip Hong Kong ticket or package, they also got to take home Abbey Sy’s personally designed Hong Kong Pasalubong bags. These specially designed totes were made to be the perfect bag to take on a shopping trip, and it seems like there’s going to be a flock of Pinoy travelers flying to Hong Kong this season as all 1,600 bags were redeemed.

Also featured by HKTB was a taste of Hong Kong’s street food. Mammy Pancake is a Michelin-recommended shop famous for flavored twists on the original egg waffles. Visitors were definitely delighted as they were treated to this favorite street food eat every day of the expo. “I found that most Filipinos have not tried the egg waffles, so this was a great opportunity for them to taste and try something authentic to Hong Kong,” explains Kwong, co-owner of Mammy Pancake Tsim Sha Tsui franchise. More treats were given away as everyone who took a selfie at the HK Pavilion and downloaded the “My Hong Kong Guide” App also received a special gift from HKTB.

Visitors were also able to learn about the awesome tour packages and attractions the whole family can visit, plus fun-filled activities for kids and adults to enjoy. Some of the featured attractions were Hong Kong Disneyland, Madame Tussauds Wax Museum and Ocean Park. For family-friendly activities visitors learned about the Hong Kong Pulse 3D Light Show, Ani-com and Games, Food Expo, Hong Kong Summer International Film Festival and the Lan Kwai Fong Beer and Music Fest.

The vibrant city of Hong Kong is definitely packed with fun and excitement, and many Filipinos will get to experience all its offerings after the expo.
