The Bureau of Philippine Standards will meet with industry associations and other stakeholders of steel, flat glass and cement industries today and on July 12 in the Trade and Industry Building in Makati City.
The Consumer Protection Group and BPS will review trade policies on products under mandatory certification, particularly on sampling, inspection, and testing.
“The DTI engages its stakeholders in dialogues to review the implementing guidelines relative to inspection, sampling and testing of steel bars, equal-leg angle bars, flat glass, and, cement,” said Trade Undersecretary Victorio Mario Dimagiba.
He said his group would continue to open communication lines with the industry sector and further promote transparency to ensure that only safe products were sold in the market.
“Initially, we are discussing with the industries of steel bars, equal-leg angle bars, flat glass, and cement. Then in the following months, we’ll meet with the industries of other products that are under the BPS Product Certification Scheme,” he added.
