PSC heightens security protocols after threat vs. Marcos

The Presidential Security Command (PSC) has heightened its security protocols for President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, citing Vice President Sara Duterte’s recent warning against the first couple as a significant national security concern.

The directive follows the Vice President’s controversial statement that she arranged for the assassination of the first couple and Speaker Martin Romualdez in the event that she is killed.

“Any threat to the life of the President and the First Family, regardless of its origin—and especially one made so brazenly in public—is treated with the utmost seriousness,” the PSC said in its statement.

It said it is in close collaboration with law enforcement agencies to “detect, deter, and defend” threats against the country’s highest officeholders.

“We consider this a matter of national security and shall take all necessary measures to ensure the President’s safety,” the statement added.

Malacañang earlier said any threats against the President should be taken seriously, citing the gravity of Duterte’s public remarks.

During a Saturday early morning press briefing, Duterte lashed out against the Marcos couple and Romualdez, accusing them of undermining her team.

She referenced a video from Liza involving money and written instructions related to government funds, claiming millions were being funneled through the Department of Education, where Duterte previously served as Education Secretary.
